Sellkaker from
Vatnbygda

Overview

This dish is a local specialty from Vatnbygda, with roots going back generations. The recipe is ancient and was local to Mosti, as well as a couple of other farms in Vatnbygda. Fortunately, it has now been embraced by many more.

Originally, the dish used the lamb's side meat – now fenalår is used instead. The sellkaker are made from regular møsbrømlefser or traditional lefser. Inside, there is a sweet dough/batter with small pieces of fenalår.

They are baked in the oven and are suitable for freezing. It's easy to reheat them in the oven when needed, or you can bring them on a trip and warm them in foil over the campfire. They are delicious when paired with a cold drink.
